From the recording … Flying
Frank: Maureen came to rehearsal one day with lyrics and a melody to this new song she was working on and asked if I would help her finish it off. After many unsuccessful attempts, Luisa suggested that I try playing it with the same feel as Kim Richey's "Can't Find the Words." Presto! it all came together rather quickly then. It was our drummer Chris Aleo's idea to change the timing of one of the bars in the instrumental break from 4/4 to 6/4 which we all loved. Screwed it up just enough to be interesting. That's Steve Young playing surreal electric guitar in the breaks.
Luisa: I had a blast engineering the opening "wind" which is Frankie and Mo in front of the mic. We were all impressed by how genuine it sounded. A fun day in the studio.
Lyrics
Lyrics: M. Wasik, Music: M. Wasik/F. Veres
The tops of the trees are under me
Gravity’s not pulling me down
I can hear myself way up in the clouds
With no one else around
And there’s no more fear
When I can soar
And the ground’s not under my feet anymore
Because I’m flying
The night air is sharp as I near to the moon
She gives her power to me
Now I can touch the light of a dying star
Grace is all that I see
And there’s no more fear
When I can soar
And the ground’s not under my feet anymore
Because I’m flying
Air lifts up
The traveler breathes
Night brings clarity
When light breaks through I awake in my bed
Was it all a dream?
And there’s no more fear
When I can soar
And the ground’s not under my feet anymore
Because I’m flying
