From the recording … Flying
Luisa: I wrote this sitting in a nice patch of sunlight on my apartment floor. It came all at once and every word felt true.
Frank: Probably my favorite Luisa song ever. Never get tired of playing this one. This was the first song that she played me where I realized that we now had another songwriter on our hands.
Lyrics
L. Tanno
I remember childhood nights
talking on the phone
Giggling beneath the covers
so my parents wouldn’t know
And I remember hanging up for sleep
thinking this is the happiest I’ll ever be
I remember the day
he touched my hand in the hall
Events before and after
I never can recall
But oh, how he made my heart go weak
I thought this is the happiest I’ll ever be
And I remember summer nights
before we all left home
Hangin out past midnight
and cruising top down
I could feel my hair out in the breeze
I thought this is the happiest I’ll ever be
But isn’t it amazing how surprising life can be?
I remember moving
to the city on my own
That first day of springtime
when I finally felt home
And I remember stopping in the street
I thought this is the happiest I’ll ever be
But now reliving all these memories
This may be the happiest
We’ll wait and see
Isn’t it amazing how surprising life can be?
