From the recording … Flying
Luisa: True to its travel theme, I wrote the lyrics to this song while on a train to Philadelphia. I had recorded the chord changes on a cheap cassette and played it on my Walkman while looking out the window of the train. Once written, I brought it to Frank. He liked the chords but picked up the guitar and played them with a very different feel than what I had had. I loved it. Together we re-worked the song and brought it home to what you hear today.
Frank: The repetitiveness of the strummed acoustic guitar and the drum pattern were designed to represent the monotony of driving long distances. Ooh yeah...Luisa makes her recording debut on electric guitar! Chris D'Amato added electric slide guitar to the track which gave it just the right amount of grit. Love it!
Lyrics
L. Tanno/ F. Veres
Slow breeze, fast truck
a taxi cab, the rising sun
and me on the road
Tired eyes, coffee in hand
But so thrilled with my travel plan
Let the day unfold
I’ve been too much at home
I’m unsettled unless I roam
No map, no loss
I’m more bold each bridge I cross
I’m happy alone
Lunch time, small town
Plenty of smiles to go around
I add my own
I’ve been too much at home
I’m unsettled unless I roam
Wanderlust beckons, I’m sure to listen
There may be life out there I’m missing
It’s my best study, city to city
I think they’ve all got something on me
Slow breeze, fast truck
a taxi cab, the setting sun
and me on the road
