  1. I'm Sleepin' In

From the recording Here Before

Share

Frank: Was lying in bed, listening to Paul Simon (on CD of course, not in person…just to clear that up), and was inspired by his more modern style of composing and so I tried to give it a go myself.  I'm no Paul Simon, but at least it was a jumping-off point, which is sometimes all you need.  We had a rough start getting this to coalesce in the studio at first, but with the help of our talented musician friends, were able to pull it all together into something presentable...we hope!

Lyrics

(F.Veres/L.Tanno)

There’s trouble in the homeland
There’s trouble over there
The trouble with trouble lately
Is there’s trouble everywhere
It’s a sad affair

Beware of all you cannot see
When nighttime closes in
The moon makes people crazy
And paints the shadows they hide in
It’s a loony bin

The world keeps turning
And I do too
There’s just one thing to do

I’m sleepin’ in, was up all night
Don’t ask again, you heard me right
Not waking up, not feeling blue
Just sleepin’ in. So how about you?
I wish I may, I wish I might
Pull up the sheets, the sun’s too bright
You asked before. I told you then
It’s like I said, “I’m sleepin’ in”

Hornets buzzin' ‘round my basement
I got a bee in my bonnet too
Mosquito I just met, that I’m itchin’ to get
Join the flies at my barbecue
A total bugaboo

Well I used to skate on my favorite pond
But it just won’t freeze no more
Now they’re recalling everything that I eat
Black water’s washing up on the shore
Time to bar the door

The world is changing
And all too soon
Wake me up at noon

I’m sleepin’ in, was up all night
Don’t ask again, you heard me right
Not waking up, not feeling blue
Just sleepin’ in. So how about you?

No excuses, I don’t feel bad
This may be the best idea I ever had

(repeat chorus)
I’m sleepin’ in. I’m sleepin’ in. I’m sleepin’ in. Sleepin’
